This summer, ITAMCO had the privilege of working with a group of incredibly talented interns across Engineering, Business, IT/Cybersecurity, and Software Development. Their contributions have made a lasting impact on our operations, systems, and culture.

Meet the interns and their accomplishments:

Taylor Delp
Taylor Delp

Business Management Intern

Taylor Delp returned to ITAMCO for her second summer internship, continuing to make meaningful contributions across multiple departments. A 2023 graduate of Plymouth High School, Taylor is entering her junior year at Bethel University, where she is pursuing a degree in Business Marketing.

Throughout the summer, Taylor worked on several impactful projects. She continued producing the ITAMCO Employee Spotlights, a valuable initiative that helps build company culture and strengthen internal connections.

One of her standout responsibilities was leading the development of Floor Production Boards for ITAMCO’s four main material removal departments. These boards are now used to capture and display daily production data, improving transparency and communication between management and team leaders. As a result, production issues are identified and addressed more quickly.

Taylor also led efforts to upgrade ITAMCO’s Safety Data Sheet (SDS) system and improve the labeling process for secondary chemical containers. After researching modern systems and hardware solutions, she recreated all required GHS-compliant labels. Thanks to her work, the Tool Crib Manager can now search for and print a label in under 30 seconds—significantly increasing efficiency and compliance.

As she returns to Bethel University to complete the final year and a half of her studies—and prepares for her junior season on the women’s volleyball team—we thank Taylor for her professionalism and contributions to ITAMCO this summer.

Fidel Gonzalez
Fidel Gonzalez

IT/Cybersecurity Intern

Fidel Gonzalez joined ITAMCO as a first-year intern through a partnership with Triton High School. Graduating in December 2024, Fidel spent the first semester of his senior year participating in a paid internship, working at ITAMCO for half of each school day.

Beginning in January, Fidel transitioned to a more regular schedule, working four days a week and assisting the IT department with key projects in information technology and cybersecurity.  His first major contribution was supporting the implementation and configuration of the MTConnect system, which allows ITAMCO to monitor machine and spindle time across the shop floor. This technology provides valuable real-time data to help optimize production performance.

Fidel also played an integral role in improving ITAMCO’s cybersecurity posture. He worked on identifying and addressing high-risk vulnerabilities and implementing measures to prevent potential security breaches. His efforts led to a significant improvement in ITAMCO’s cybersecurity score.

Fidel has enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he plans to continue exploring his passion for cybersecurity while serving his country. He is scheduled to begin Basic Training this fall.

ITAMCO is proud to have been part of Fidel’s journey and is grateful for the dedication, initiative, and technical skills he brought to the team.

Andrew Faulstich
Andrew Faulstich

QuPID Dev Intern

A 2022 graduate of Plymouth High School, Andrew Faulstich recently earned his B.S. in Computer Engineering from Purdue Fort Wayne this past May. During his internship at ITAMCO, Andrew contributed significantly to improvements within our Quality Management System (QMS).

He worked on several reporting features, including the automation of machine and maintenance request reports, which now update dynamically throughout the day. Additionally, Andrew enhanced and updated multiple pages on our QMS website. One notable feature he developed enables the manufacturing team to view which parts the Quality Department is currently prioritizing. This improvement will help floor team leaders better plan their next production steps.

Looking ahead, Andrew will return to Purdue Fort Wayne in the fall to pursue a master’s degree. Inspired by his internship experience at ITAMCO, he has decided to shift his focus from Computer Engineering to Electrical Engineering.

Beck Magee
Beck Magee

QuPID Dev Intern

Beck Magee, a 2024 graduate of Culver Military Academy, is entering his sophomore year at Purdue University, where he is majoring in Computer Engineering. During his time with ITAMCO, Beck played a key role in enhancing and updating various sections of the QMS website.

He contributed by creating several reusable code modules—“plug-and-play” components—that will simplify future development and promote consistency across the platform. This work not only improved the efficiency of our web infrastructure but also gave Beck hands-on experience with new coding languages and real-world development challenges.

Both Andrew and Beck made meaningful contributions to ITAMCO’s QMS initiatives. By improving functionality, streamlining design, and addressing technical debt left by previous development efforts, they’ve helped bring greater clarity, consistency, and long-term maintainability to our systems.

Engineering Interns

Will Kingston
Will Kingston

Engineering Intern

Will Kingston, a 2022 graduate of Plymouth High School, is currently pursuing a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering with a minor in Mathematics at the University of Alabama. He is an active member of both the university’s marching and pep bands.

As a returning intern, Will was an invaluable resource to first-year interns, offering guidance and technical support throughout the summer. He played a leading role in the design and development of retrofit components for one of ITAMCO’s gear grinding machines. Will created detailed 3D models and technical drawings of the parts, and he also participated in their physical manufacturing alongside a fellow intern. Through this project, he gained hands-on experience writing code for CNC mills and lathes and learned to operate manual milling machines.

Josh Mathews
Josh Mathews

Engineering Intern

Josh Mathews, a native of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, is entering his final year at the University of Alabama, where he is also pursuing a degree in Aerospace Engineering and performs in the Crimson Tide marching band.

Josh collaborated closely with Will on the gear grinder retrofit project, contributing to the design, modeling, and manufacturing of the new components. Despite having no prior experience in these areas, Josh quickly developed skills in CAD design, CNC programming, and machining, one of the main reasons he chose to intern at ITAMCO.

Additional Engineering Projects and Responsibilities

Beyond the retrofit project, Will and Josh took on several additional assignments. These included:

  • Developing a Value Stream Map for a key ITAMCO-manufactured part
  • Conducting audits and visits to potential ITAMCO vendors
  • Designing and implementing a shop floor continuous improvement initiative
  • Participating in ISO 9001 certification training and conducting internal audits
  • Completing a research project on the effects of nitriding and heat treating on manufactured gears

We loved having Will Kingston and Josh Mathews at ITAMCO this summer. They share attributes like strong work ethic, perseverance, curiosity and grit. These strengths will undoubtedly make them tremendous assets in their professional lives. We thank them for their contributions to our culture and team this summer and wish them best of luck in their Senior year at Alabama University.
