Quality Inspector Job Responsibilities

Candidate maintains quality standards by approving incoming materials, in-process production, and finished products using a variety of hand inspections tools and CMM’s.

Quality Inspector Job Duties

  • Approves incoming materials by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; rejecting and returning unacceptable materials.
  • Approves in-process production by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; communicating required adjustments to production supervisor.
  • Approves finished products by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; returning products for re-work; confirming re-work.
  • Documents inspection results by completing reports and logs; summarizing re-work and waste; inputting data into quality database.
  • Keeps measurement equipment operating by following operating instructions; calling for repairs.
  • Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
  • Accomplishes quality and organization mission by completing related results as needed.Quality Inspector Skills and Qualifications:
  • Analyzing information
  • Reporting inspection results
  • Documentation Skills
  • Promoting process improvement
  • Must have the ability to safely load part on to Zeiss CMM and start an inspection.
    • Experience with Calypso software preferred
  • General understanding of hand gages.( Micrometers and Calipers up to 48”)
  • Basic understanding of blueprint reading. ( some GD & T)
  • Good communication skills both written and spoken. ( Outlook and Excel)

General Description
Produce machined parts by setting up, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies.

Work Experience Requirements
Operates mills or lathes. Verifies settings by measuring touch offs, first part inspection and sample workpieces. Maintains specifications by taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; adjusting controls; making minor program adjustments; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes. Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations. Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer’s instructions; Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.

Working Conditions
Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Work involves frequent lifting of materials up to 30 pounds. Machinery and tool operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, and work boots. Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.
